Sex often triggers what is best and worst in relationships. Swinging from the highs of passion to the lows of rejection, sex offers us all plenty to engage with and talk about in session. Yet, most therapists are not taught how to facilitate these intimate conversations and harness the power of sexual connection to help secure the couples’ attachment. Therapists avoid talking about sex for fear of embarrassment, lack of assessment skills, and/or little confidence about what to do with sexual dysfunctions and disconnections. Though deeply important to their relationship, our clients, likewise, might avoid talking about sex for fear of being embarrassed, of being found incompetent or unattractive, and/or fear of having hopeless conflict. In this training therapists will learn how to use the power of EFT to help couples have successful sexual conversations, inside and outside the bedroom, that strengthen their emotional bond.

Even when couples have achieved a measure of secure emotional attachment in therapy, there is often still a need for direct work on their sexual relationship. Learn how to work effectively with both the emotional and sexual attachment cycles.

 

Learning Objectives

1. Identify the key assumptions of attachment theory as it applies to adult sexuality.

2. Identify the assumptions, stages, and steps of EFT, as well as key change events.

3. Describe key interventions that help clients to reprocess key emotional responses
and reduce reactivity.

4. Discuss common therapeutic impasses in EFT with sexuality and how to address
them and implement EFT interventions in clinical exercises and case examples.

5. Apply techniques of sexual assessment in EFT treatment.

CANCELLATION & REFUND  POLICY

When you register and pay for this or any EWNIEFT Community event, your registration fee is used in advance to support essential event costs, including trainer honoraria and facility-related expenses. As a non-profit organization, EWNIEFT depends on each event to be financially self-sustaining.

We appreciate your understanding that these commitments are made well ahead of the event, and changes can affect our ability to offer future trainings within our community. To balance flexibility with these responsibilities, the following cancellation policy applies:

• Cancellations received 30 days or more prior to the start date of the training are eligible for a refund minus a $50 non-refundable administrative fee.

• Cancellations received within 30 days of the start date are not eligible for a refund; however, the registration fee may be applied as a credit toward a future EWNIEFT Community–sponsored event within two years of the original event date.

• If a participant has registered and does not attend all or part of an Externship, Core Skills module, or Master Class training without prior notice, we are unable to offer a refund or credit.
